GS-R ECU in Type R? Bad idea or OK?

GS-R ECU in Type R? Bad idea or OK?
I need a temporary solution just to move the R in and out of the garage until I find a ECU for my 97 R. I have a 96 GS-R ECU and a 99 GS-R ECU, any damage to be done running these ECU's? I could pull the Spoon out of my race car but I would rather not. Thanks.

no it will not damage anything in your engine if you run the GSR ECU. You might get a check engine light for something..but it wont hurt anything..

i usde to run a gsr ecu on my LS (obd2) and just tricked the ecu into thinking it had vtec. hahaha it was tite. then i got a real obd1 LS ecu that kicked ***. heh and now the LS motor if finally history.

No problems, no check engine light either. But it will be a pain while cruising on the freeway. VTEC point is right where the ITR cruises on the freeway, you will be going in and out of VTEC constantly.
