CTR crank pulley questions..
I just got my CTR crank pulley in yesterday and I have a few questions.. Its really nice, it weighs 2lbs, but I have yet to weigh the stock one so I don't know how much of a difference that is.
Do I need to take it to a machine shop and get it balanced? Reading the Archived content on the N1 crank pulley, some said to get it balanced some said I don't need to.
What alternator belt do I use?
Thanks.

I have one. I have yet to install it but its a honda OEM part and come factory on a B16B so I would have to say its safe to put it on. The belt I'm not sure of though.
Balanced is always better, and a remachined stock pulley is the best because it retains the rubber damper.
I would really like to know how many people that use the CTR pulley for an extended period of time actually rip the block apart to check that the bearings are "fine" I'm sure there are a few rare cases where the bearings are good but without a damper the bearings WILL wear unevenly sometimes more slowly then others.

If its a honda OEM part its has to be within specifications though. It comes on a B16B as OEM part. The honda pn#13811-PCT-000. If you spin a bearing its gonna be on the normal wear of the engine. Which could happen even with the current pulley which would be balanced. I would trust it in my opinion.

correct even OEM can cause problems, put a part for race prepping an engine on a daily driver and it'll last as long as a race engine

the part is off a rase base CTR, meaning no accessories, they come with steel wheels also.

The belts from any US integras do not work for the belt. You will need a Goodyear 4040290 4PK735. Ironically, I have it sitting in my room tonight.
I know that IPSracing.com they are selling the CTR N-1 crank pully for 90shipped which seems like a good deal.
I just want to know what kind of gains I should expect from my B18c1?

Thanks for the part #!
I'm not overly worried about what might happen to my motor.. I race it, thats why I do things to make it faster.. Of course its going to break down eventually.. Then I'll have a reason to build it up more.
Also, I've done a lot of reading online before I bought the pulley and some people are saying that older B16s don't have the harmonic damper anyway.. The guy who did my swap told me that a couple different Honda engines don't have them.
Oh well, spin a bearing, get a GSR block and get over it.

I have herd from either TOO or mista bone that they knew someone with CTR pully on a B18c and there was no noticable premature wear in the main or rod bearings during the teardown. I have been running one for over a year and the motor is still running strong. I installed the pully out of the box.

I used a 29.5" belt, and I am using a 1g b16 alternator.

what pulley is the best to have shaved down to a single belt that has a harmonic balancer? I have a CTR one but want to use a pulley with a dampener.

As small as they are they still have a flywheel on one end, and the balancer is the pulley, it has a rubber ring to dampen vibrations.

I just wanted to add to all this and make everyone aware that this part is designed and intended for road racing primarily, thus the N1 denotion. Also, it is generally best mated with a lightened and properly balanced flywheel. All of these parts are not very good for drag racing, you would just end up having to launch higher to acheive the same launch as with a stock flywheel/pulley because the inertia of the additional weight helps keep the motor spinning at lower RPM's.
