how to get alittle more, not too expensive or too much labor HP after i/h/e
say I have i/h/e
what's the next step?
I want to spend maybe around 300 on something
intake manifold seems too much work
stage 1 cams shouldn't be too much work to replace but will result in bad idle right?
let me know what you guys think

When doing bolt on mods, people always forget the C in I/H/C/E, which stands for cat. Upgrade to a hi-flow cat, because your stock cat could possibly be choking your airflow. Also, tune your car to get the most benifits out of your mods.
Cams will not give you a bad idle. Depends how you tune it and how agressive they are. Get a VAFC and get your car tuned. Should be a tad over 300.
Not always the case with cams. "Stage 1" is a very loose term though. What kind of setup do you have now? What car/motor? I have a B16 in my '91 Teg and I just did a CTR cam upgrade. Power over stock is awesome and the idle is smooth as silk. I have also heard that TOda Spec A's, Skunk2 Stage1 and Spoons have very good idles. HOwever, remember that you can't just do cams. Everything else that directly works with the cams has to be upgraded as well (e.i., valve springs, FPR, ECU chip). Cams alone may hurt you.
But yes, cams is a good choice.

Get a cat, or if u want cams get some Type R cams, then a vafc and tune. No need to get car tuned with i/h/e all you did was free up air flow from the stock restricted parts.

Do the pulley really work to produce HP? I have heard mixed reviews about these.

ive heard of crank pulleys producing about 5 or 6 hp to the wheels on a b16 si......
just as when u cut the ac belt or power steering belt it frees up force used to drive those pulleys...so if u replace your stock pulleys with larger diameter lighter ones it frees up force used to drive the belts

what do you mean? You can use a ctr intake and a itr exhaust cam, but if you don't have vtec then you can't use vtec cams.

He has a B18B...so there goes the type-r cams idea. My .02 is to get a hondata, and have your car dyno tuned. I have 404's and the power isnt that great (i still have LOTS of tuning to do, but...) so I wouldnt get cams untill ou do a ton of research and are ready to drop a good sum of money to get all of the parts that go along with them. Then add tuning on top of that.
B18B! Well so much for the quick and easy. As notstock93 said, there is much homework to be done before modding an LS motor. Too little tuning and you won't be happy. Too much tuning and the car won't be streetable.
**CAREFUL WITH PULLEY'S**
Key words here; Harmonic Balancer. Your stock crank pulley is perfectly balanced to keep the motor from vibrating apart. Aftermarket pullies may free some horsepower, but you may start to blow out seals and bearings. This is only advice for the crank pulley! Anything else is fine. DO NOT change your crank pulley with a lightened one. $.02

The stock Crank pulley IS NOT perfectly balanced. It is fairly balanced, sure, but the pulley has a rubber inner lining that dampens the vibrations....not the actuall balance of the pulley. In fact, D series and B16 pulleys dont even have the rubber stripping.....the engines are small enough that the vibrations dont even need THAT.

Inline four balanced crank pully is lighter, is balanced, and still has the rubber dampener.
