sup fellas I'm doing a ITR 5 lug conversion to my 93 civic si soon. was wondering what MC/brake booster, prop. valve and brake lines should I use. I was told I can retain the existing stuff from my civic but was figuring upgrading to the sufficient parts to match the brakes and what not would be better. let me know what yall think.

thanks for the response. I think I might just end up using a Integra RS 4040prop. valve, 15/16 MC/brake booster being that it needs no modifications. and it's only 1/16th of a inch smaller than a 1"typer MC. any other suggestions?

 

When I did my 5-lug conversion myself, I used a 1' GSR MC from a 94-95 Integra, 4040 prop valve from a 93 Si hatchback, and ITR Russel SS brake lines..everything bolted in and it works great....

What about on a 95 CX hatch? We just picked up the 5lug swap and will be getting an ITR master cylinder tomorrow, and we're looking for an ITR booster, so which prop valve is best?
I've been told Integra RS would be good since the RS lacked ABS like the CX but what difference does that really make? (5lug n00b )

For my 5 lug conversion on my 93 coupe I used the following:

1. JDM ITR Brake booster
2. JDM ITR Master Cylnder
3. 40/30 - 93 Civic SI proportioning valve (soon to upgrade to 40/40)
4. Goodridge steel braided brake lines.

So far it's been great. Any more questions just PM me.

 

Supposedly the 30/40 prop valve (I forget which car it's from) is best as told to me by a local racer. The 40/40 prop valve is too rear biased for our lightweight chassis (compared to the DC2 body) and will lock up the rear brakes before the front ones under hard braking. I don't have first hand experience with this though until after I install my 5 lug on my EH2. I have both a 40/40 and a 30/40 prop vavle and will post my results...

 

As I stated in my previous thread, the 40/40 prop valve will not lock up the rears first..how do I know? I have been testing it for over the course of 4 years, the 40/40 prop valve works perfectly for the ITR brake bias.....

 

I used a 15/16 M/C and 40/40 prop valve with my JDM 4 x 114 conversion.

The front line on the M/C will have to be bent a little bit to fit properly. It will be a very tight fit.

Make sure to use all new brake fluid. Which one you choose is up to you depending on what the purpose of the car will be, i.e. street/auto-x/drag/lapping

Also be very careful when threading in the fitting to avoid cross threading. The metal is very soft and will strip faster then you can imagine.

If you want you car to stop like a 4 wheel disc is supposed to, source out all the parts. Braided lines are an added bonus if you have the money, but not 100% necessary.

If you do happen to have a bit of extra cash, invest in some Russel speed bleeders. It will make bleeding the brakes a one person job, and make it a lot faster. They come in packs of 2, the one you would be looking for is "639610" . It 10mm with a 1.25 thread pitch

i would disagree with the speedbleeders. if you want a great one man brake job get a powerbleeders pressure system... about 40 bucks.. you will find that its hard to gauge the speedbleeders and most if not all tighten them too tight and break them which is more pain that you do not need.

i also have a 1" gsr m/c and booster in my sig if interested.

 

i have had my Russel bleeders on for about 2.5 yrs without any problems what so ever. If you know what you are doing when you bleed the brakes, you will not break the bleeders off

 

im getting ready to do a 5-lug conversion on my 92 si hatch too. is the type r brake booster and the si brake booster the same? let me know asap.

i still have my stock prop and m/c, with goodrige steel lines. stops on a dime.

 

we have 3 5lug civics at our household. 2 SI's hatch and coupe and one DX hatch
we used integra gsr BB, MC . 91 integra PV. 4040!!! not 4030...4040 is what you need. after 3 5lug conversion i think we know what we need for 5lug.

all vehicales are b18c5 powered with ITR interior

paperwork for motor comes with the purchase of the 94 b18c5 powred SI.

 

When i did my swap i just used the ITR MC. I used my stock BB and prop valve and lines. I drove a local R (stock) and mine seems to stop equally as nice as his.

 

I'm getting the ITR MC PROP and BOOSTER but I am thinking of installing the 5 lug befor I get them.

if you don't change the brake booster and the other **** that holds the liquid it brakes like ****...i know because mine is breaking like **** right now. i have to press the brake pedal almost all the way to the floor before it brakes. lemme know whats wrong someone.

 

how can you tell the difference from a 30/40 prop and a 40/40 prop say they were side by side? i have a prop that im looking to sell outta my 1992 5 lug hatch but not sure what it is? thanx

It will be stamped/"engraved" on the side of the prop valve. It may be hard to miss if the part is a little dirty...
