went to my 2nd track event yesterday
went to my 2nd HPDE (changed that for the picky fawkers!
) event yesterday. had a friggin BLAST (again)
went on the faster less twisty course (on the right, going the opposite direction)

this time and actually didnt do to bad. got black flagged once. but i cant imagine why, i only had 2 Evo 8's, in front of me and a Corvette Z06 and an ITR behind me.
so they moved me to the back of the field.
I was braking a little to early, and apex to soon on the corners, but i will get better at that with time. I do plan on going to another event this year.
here are some pics that my dad took.

this is what they did later that evening when they combined the 2 courses... i didnt drive this one, but rode in a 95 RX7 for 2 races and in a 91 hatch in another. this setup was 10x better then the other ones

Be careful. You can get your head bit off in this forum for classifying open track/hpde as road racing.
Looks like you had a good time though and whats what matters.

if you'll notice, there is NO instructor in the car with him......hmmmm.
does that mean that he's in advanced after only one event? or does this place not use instructors.....

My first event, I had an instructor for a few sessions, then he released me on my own into the wild. hehe.

this is NOT an SCCA event. this is a local group that puts on both clinics (that event) and does timed races at a track in St. Cloud mn, and at Brainard International Raceway.

you will get better. drive with instructors at every opportunity, and read some books - 'going faster/skip barber' comes to mind.
10,500+ posts? holy cow.
it was really bad that lap because that was lap 1 on my first time on that course
i was swinging alot wider after a few laps and diving into the corners

Has AARRF got there act together yet, the last time I went there they wasted about 2 hours with tech and there usual bs. I was planning on running more of there events but they waste too much time and are totally un-organized, and the fees for off track excursions is lame. I have since done a track day with Donnybrooke at BIR and it was 10,000 times better.
AARRF is a bunch of ***-clowns. they think they're sweet......but they're not. i have so many stories to tell about how dumb they are......but i don't feel like telling them right now.
Donnybrooke on the other hand
but of course i'm bias since i work for them on occasion and am pretty close with the owner of the operation.

so you really learn alot on the hpde1?? cuz i was gonna hit up the aug. and sept hpde and probably just do the 1st one for both. ya can never learn too much. but i figured i should do my best on the aug. one and then do hpde 2 in sept.

Hey man, don't worry about being fast, do exaclty what you said. I only have a D16Y8 with intake. Otherwise suspension mods only, so I know where you are coming from.
