Hey guys, I need some assistance...
My G'ma wants to get my G'pa an in-car GPS system for his 75th b'day present. If any of you are in the know about what's out there, please provide me links to what closest meets the feature list below.
He's got a mid-90s Volvo 850 sedan.
The features desired are:
a.) a decent size color LCD screen, preferably 4" or larger (he's losing eyesight in one eye, the other is perfect);
b.) audio alerts and/or voice command to tell him when to turn;
c.) updatable maps (via CD/DVD);
d.) features are more important than cost, however, let's try to keep it reasonable...
Yes, I've been looking. I was hoping that some of you with knowledge with these had some suggestions (I know nothing about them). So far, I've have come up with the Garmin GPS V Deluxe. It has most of the features, but I was hoping for something with a larger screen.
Any and all help and suggestions are appreciated.

well what do you mean by reasonable? ALpine makes a nav kit that you can add a monitor to for about 1700, i think thats reasonable considering factory more than 2000 for one that cant play dvd's or anything else.

Click on Products > Navigation > Navigation Systems > NVE-N852A
Retails for $1700 but does NOT include a monitor. Add another $650 for an Alpine 6.5" or $400 for a 5.8" monitor.

not to mention that unit can't play DVD's either... it's NAV ONLY.
YOu could look into the Garmin Street Pilot III Deluxe... $989 IIRC right now... only thing is you need to update your info on the memory card via computer... I don't know how into computers he is, the alpine would be a more "user friendly" interface
