Help! Idle Problem, Car revs from 700-1500 nonstop
It started yesterday when i was going to my friends. i pulled into a 7-11 after highway driving for about 20 minutes and when i went to park my car and it would not stop revving. I put it into neutral and it was still doing it. The entire way to my friends it was still doing it. We disconnected the MAP sensor and the idle went to normal(just started stinking like raw gas) so we clipped it back in and idle started doing it again. Could this be bad MAP sensor? Or a Vacuum Leak? My boost guage was showing my Vacuum to be around 15 or so.

that or map sensor is bad or you have a vacuum leak

i had reset my ecu and was letting it idle waiting for cooling fan to come on, for the first few minutes it was fine, then it got real sputtery idle, i looked at my boost guage and the vacuum was jumping from around 19 down to 10 and back and forth...
what year and type of car are we talking about.... my turbo gsr did this just last week and it was after i raced a 300 zx. the boost blew off one of the vac lines so it had a leak in the system. after you reset the ecu did the map code come back on or did you just get theat code from unplugging the sensor earlier... are you running a missing link or just check valves... stock ecm i assume?
setup is
97 civic with d16y7 block, 98 d16y8 head/intake manifold using 98 ex ecu (Mini Me Swap)
greddy 15g turbo kit using the blue box, ngk 5f spark plugs and ngk wires
now that you said that, one of the nipples(iacv coolant line?) i think it is, its 2 nipples right next to each other under the tb but on the IM i think, was loose and there was fluid on the rim of the tube and on the tube itself, i tried pulling it back up but i have no tools on me at work
i had been boosting yesterday prior to this happening, i reset the ecu and drove it around on my lunch break but the CEL didn't come on. It only came on when i started the car with the one plug on the TB(cant remember its name this second, its the plug that goes into the tan connector on the bottom of the tb, IAC?)

have you checked all the vac lines i mean alllllll of them even any that may not be related to the turbo setup. here is what im getting at... you said when the map is unhooked the car runs smooth but smells of raw fuel. when the map on a honda is unhooked the ecm assumes the map is 0 so it runs very fat. with no map sensor hooked up the car should be so rich it should almost die if it doesnt then its gotta be taking in extra air from somewhere either a vac leak or messed up iac valve
i guess im going to be pulling the IM off when i get home to check it all out, we pulled the map(im 75% sure it was map) off last night and drove around the block and it ran fine, just stunk like gas, and when i left it to run on the turbo timer it sounded like my friends 74 bug...
how many vac lines are there total?

Does your 98 EX have the manifold with the air spacer around the injectors (can't remember if that was a 96-98 or 99+ item). Basically go look at your IM where it meets the head, right between the #2 and #3 injectors check to see if there is a vaccum port facing straight up. Lots of people miss this one when doing the mini-me swap.
it was doing it on my ride into work again today, one this one straightaway on this back road i boosted my car up to 80 real quick and let off, when i came to a stop at the end of the road at the light the idle was normal.
i think my car is haunted
knocked too late, CEL popped on on the way to work this morning, it looked like it was flashing 2 codes but i think it was just the one(im tired) looks like it was flashing 45 System Too Lean or Too Rich
malfunction in the fuel monitoring systems

my boosted 00 si does this.. well it use to.. now it is gone though.. but sometimes it will idle at 1300 rpms or so.. and sometimes it will dorp and idle around 750ish *shrug* runs fine and works good
