Ok, the gumball/one lap of america has pequed my mind for sometime now.
My question is... which car would you choose?
I dosen't have to be the fastest or best handling, but must be relaible, big enough to hold all you r stuff, comfetrable, unconspicus etc.....
what would you drive? feel free to add your own.

Making one of those Cobra Vics has always been a dream of mine. My dad usd to be in politics and he had an ex-police issue Vic with the Interceptor. That thing hauled ***.
I wouldn't have a multicolor paint scheme, I might get into some trouble. But I'd def. go black or dark blue. Lower it with some sick suspension, cause those things are pretty floaty, then do the engine swap and mod the Cobra engine some more. Then I'd get a roof rack or something that looks vaguely like a light bar, some cop-spec hubcaps, dark tints, and I'd be set. Although the muscle-car burble might give me away.
On a side note, Mercury is making a version of the Grand Marquis that is such a car, called the Marauder. It'l have 18" wheels, stiff susp, and 300+ hp. I guess you could call it a Type R of Mercurys.

Anyone planning on running next year?
Now I have the $$ and can take time off... anyone know what's at stake here other than the-ultimate-driving-adventure for a week, possibly wrecking the car and losing my license?
Like, whats the grand prize?I think my 330i would do quite well, its no M3, but...
speraking of M3, I recently tried to up-grade; my choice was to either wait on the two year waiting list or buy the used '01 M3 w/800 miles on it for $63k. I dont think so.
Me and my friend with a new prelude are thinking about running. Have to decide which car to take. I think the prize is around $7,500 for first.
I went to the One Lap Of America event here at Road Atlanta this past spring, I was a corner worker. It was a blast seeing all those bad *** cars. There was a PY ITR (gutted) that did pretty well, also a couple Civic HBs. It was funny seeing the co-drivers sleeping in the cars right before the cars go blasting out on the track!
M5. I drove a 540 the other day, oh man the torque on that thing was awesome, i can only Imagine how great a car the M5 is. It combines performance with power and speed, just like that guy Kimble's mercedes that won the gumball in europe.
SCREW THAT !!!!!!!!!!!!! I say 2002 civic ex 4 door w/ rsx motor/tranny w/ s2000 head and a 150shot of NOS !!!!!!!!!!
P.s. I got your reliability right here!!!!!!!!!!

$7500!!! Screw that....I'll just stay to the side until the start and then follow pursuit...
Yeah I wont be able to win any money...but it would still be fun as hell to do and
a cool lilttle vacation....
I think the M5 is the perfect car for the run if you plan to have 4 people...
The M3 is good for just 2 people....the ITR isnt a bad choice...just depends
on how fast you want to go once you are rolling on the highway...and I guess
gas mileage is a factor to.
