As I was drive, I distinctively hear a whining sound coming from the engine bay. I also notice that my gauge cluster lighting is dim from idle to 3800 rpm. Once I start driving and the rpms past 3800, the cluster brightens up. Is this a sign of my alternator going bad?

 

Sounds like it. The whine is probably coming from the speakers.
