Default Topic change ;) About MTF now

I'm about to change my oil...from some cheapy conventional to Mobil 1 now that I 0wn the car. Should the 5 quart bottle be enough, or should I buy more while it's convenient? (i don't want to buy any more if I don't need it because I'm out of money )

I also got the oem filter..not some newspaper clipping fram loser brand! 73K miles..better to switch now than never!

what's wrong with fram filters? I use em all the time and they're cheaper priced too.

I thought it was 3.8 qts.
Oh well, anyway, 4 quarts should be enough unless you got some crazy *** oil pan under that thing (ie. moroso)

Okay..instead of starting a totally new thread, I'll just jack my own..it's related anyway.

How much MTF do I need to do a MTF refill? I have 74k miles and maybe could make the transmission a little happier if I help it out a little

3 i think for the manual trans....but i'm not real sure...just put 10w30 in it.....it may take a little less than 3.....just fill it till it starts coming out of the fill hole....you'll need a 3/8" drive ratchet and a 17mm wrench....

I bought a set of metrics last night for my 1/2 wrench (non ratchet :D)..17 did the oil..

But still..I've heard that there are minor disadvantages of 10w30.

10w30 is what all the books at my work say for honda manual transmissions....and we haven't had any customers come back with messed up trannies....and also a former honda technician worked with me and that's what they put in them at his shop....

Ever read the OWNERS MANUAL?

It's all laid out in there...

And in response to the Fram oil filters...

Don't ever buy a Fram filter, ever. They have all kinds of problems.
From failing internally, to exploding. Just to sum it up.

so you make a funnel out of a used oil bottle
I do it every time...I always save one bottle from the last time I changed it.
