Sup EG gang... New Project on Deck.
Haven't been in this forum for a while. I've been pretty busy with work and with racing since the season is going full bore. Some of you might remember my winter project building my first EG hatchback into a full-on autocross race car.
Recently I had an unfortunate incident with my '98 Type R. My dad was at a track day with me and had he lost control in a fairly technical section of the track. The front end of the car ended up taking it pretty bad. I decided to move on and consider the car a loss. I was debating what to do for a while. Originally I was planning an EK project, but I found a very clean 95 CX and decided to move on that.
The goal of this project is to build a very very clean street car. I do not intend to race it in any way. It will (my girlfriend told me) have a full interior and a decent sound system, AC, cruise control, and power steering. The only exterior mods will be an EX front lip and a duckbill rear wing. Wheels if you consider that an exterior mod - I consider it a suspension mod.
From the Type R I am swapping over the 5 lug and suspension. Actually I took the Mugen NZ suspension and put it on my race car. I will be running Tokico struts w/ Skunk Coil-overs 400/500 spring rates. GSR rear LCA's and sway bar. Complete ITR brake system with Goodridge lines and Powerslot rotors. Rota Subzero wheels on Falkens. Mugen strut tower bars. Of course the motor is coming across with the Mugen Gymkhana header - not sure about an exhaust yet - probably a Mugen twin loop becuase it is quiet. The motor will get a full rebuild this winter with CTR slugs and some Toda B's - I am really impressed with those cams.
Finally, I'll outfit the interior with 3 things:
1)Mugen seats from the ITR
2)Mugen pedals
3)A decent steering wheel.
I am a firm believer that a good seat and steering wheel can do a lot for any driver.
The project has already started. Here are pics of the ITR and the messy removal of the motor from Sunday. Also included are pics of the new EG. Enjoy...

Damn, sorry to hear about your accident man! New project looks very promising! Why don't you swap over the ITR Dash also? It's a lot better than the blue CX interior! Looks good so far though!!

Yeha the right thing to do would be to replace the housing. Since the tranny mount is where the hole is, I would not feel safe trying to repair it.

Go home little one. Or back into the hole you crawled out of. He's a working man, let him enjoy the fruits of his labor.

Looks like the Mugen header ate it along with the ITR's front end
. How much is it going to cost to get a new intake, Mugen header and bellhousing? Good luck with the buildup.
