Thieves are closing in on my R
Like the title says I think thieves are closing in on me. Let me explain why. Two weeks ago a small truck tried to follow me home from work (10 + miles) so I pulled down a road a did a quick u-turn and bolted home. Five or six days after that a dud I work with says when he walked out back of work to throw away the trash he sees a dark 4 door car scoping out my car and when they saw him they proceeded to leave. Today I stoped to get an estimate done on some small body damage, when leaving to go home a 92 style Mitsu Galant tries to follow me so I stop at a small lot off to the side of an intersection to wait for it to go by. The car stops and proceeds to go in reverse so again I bolted the rest of the way home taking a roud about way. Maybe I am just paranoid but the R means everything to me and I won't surrender it to thieves. BTW this isn't regular ricer b.s. I live in the country and not many ricers in the area.
sorry to hear of your paranoya, but you have to unfortunately... I totally understand ya... keep your eyes open and be smart where you leave your ride.
EDIT: is paranoya a real word :shrugs: sounds good to me

keep an eye on your
I get paranoid to.
one time I left my date in the theater right in the middle of the movie to check on the R. My friends laugh at me when I tell them.
I just have a fear of someone stealing my car disorder
.
I didn't walk to the car I ran. lol .

I would park your car where you can see it, or in a garage at all times.
If you can't see it, take out important fuses and/or the ECU, something where the theives would have to work harder to get the car moving.
Life with an R isn't always fun.

Theres a very short period during the day when I can't look at her. Of course she sleeps in a locked garage. But I can't take chances too many in the last 2 months.

You should immediately lock the R away safely so you make them think someone beat them to it and already got stolen
OR have a friend drive it around while you follow it in a beater. That way if anyone is following you you can run the plates or just run them off the road(up to you)....I used to think people were following me, but then I quit smokin and they all went away
Either way, good luck man

hopefully you have your vin covered I honestly don't care if its illegal
pull a plug wire when you park
removable steering wheel
i don't know which year you have but if you have a 98 its not smart keyed if this is the case and you have a 2000 plus, change the 10mm nuts that hold your ecu this way they will be confused when they only brought a 10 when trying to swap ecu's
get a autolock
get a luv/kill switch actually get 3 maybe even 6
get a good alarm although very overrated it can help against the common thief.
on a side note be sure to research the shop you take it to go to a place that isn't a branch and specifies only in alarms and has a good reputation for being "legit"
contact police about your situation just so that they stay informed. when I was going through a similar situation I had it where they would pull me over if the car was out on the street past 10pm and it worked quite well.
get a lojack/boomerang
get 4 door handles "no key hole"
I can't really think of anything else right now

That's how you go from getting your R stolen while you're at work to getting your R stolen at gun point while at a stop light.

make sure you don't leave any valuable personal belongings in the car...
if they do take the car (god forbid) you still have your personal stuff. be careful dude!

buy a backpack and start carrying your ECU around with you. Maybe sp00n makes a plush blue ECU cover in addition to the tissue box cover and tampon holders.

I've seen several people say this, but the thieves that steal our car always bring a ecu with them.
