this might be a really stupid question, but i am nearly positive the civic coupe made its debut in 1992.

i also thought my dad's civic coupe was a 92, although i could be mistaken...there is just some kid telling me he's 100% positive the coupe debuted in 93.

Check out the VIN# on your dad's car for his model year. Also the sticker in left door jamb should say when the car was made.

 

For instance, from my vin#... my car is a 94 model year Si hatch w/ABS brakes. From the door jamb sticker, but it was made in October of 93. My car was first sold in November of 93. I am the second and final owner. I bought her in January of 95.

I was pissed when I got my helms manual in the mail and it was
only for the 92 civic 3 and 4 doors but no 2 door.

i've done 6 swaps, helped with like 5 others...done several transmission swaps...have written various tech articles on hondaswap.com...etc...and understand suspension setups pretty well.

i was just asking a simple question...not everyone knows everything...and i'm still learning like everyone else.

 

Latter part of 92 as a model year 93.

 

i compiled the information on hondaswap...

and i used several websites like carpoint and others in gathering that information.

i may have also made the mistake of assuming there were coupes from 92-95 and just added the information accordingly...i honestly can't remember as i spent over 20 hours finding all of the weights.

i will make the appropriate changes though...i want that to be accurate.

 

eg coupe and hatch started in 92-95 i believe

 

There is no coupe listed in 92 in the Honda Civic dealer manuals that list all the models.

Thats straight from honda.

 

and kelley blue book doesn't have a listing for a 1992 coupe.

it came out in 1992 but i bet $$$ that the car was sold as a 1993. run the vin to double check, if it comes back as a 1992 coupe then he might have a collecters item. not to sound like a sarcastic moron but the dealer parts counter, service manuals, and kelly blue books do not list a 1992 civic coupe

a former coworker of mine got a black 1993 Civic EX brand new in January of 1993. i remember his car was set apart from 94-95 EX coupes because his car only had the 2 door speakers, no tweeters and no speakers on the rear shelf (those were optional), and the valve cover didn't say "VTEC" also, the passenger side seat didn't slide forward like in 94-95 coupes. i remember reading old late 1992 issues of either car/driver, motor trend or road/track and they had a little write up on the new 1993 Civic EX coupe.

 

No coupes for model year 1992. Period.

Coupes were available in late 1992 as a 1993 model year.

Anyone who tries to say otherwise is a fucktard.
