Ok my 94 acura integra is in the body/paint shop. I am getting my whole car repainted lexus is300 red. They are removing 7 little dings in my car, painting the stock black side skirts, shaving my emblems, shaving my antenna hole, and shaving my side moldings. Instead of masking they already removed my headlights, bumper lights, and tail lights. They are giving me a 6 year warranty loss of gloss/fading, peeling, chalking, cracking, and wrinkling. I also bought a 24 month protec plan which means if my car is keyed, dented, scraped, or chips they will fix it for free. Oh and they are weldings the side moldings/antenna not using bondo. I am paying $850 for this. Did I get riped off or is this a good deal.

damn I thought that was expensive, guess i was wrong. I walked around the shop and there was another integra there that just got painted ssbp and it looked clean. The shop looked pretty nice and there was a nice 02 corvette z06 there getting painted there. I asked tons of questions and they answered them well and were very patient with me. They said they won't use bondo on the moldings/antenna before i even asked and insisted they only weld these holes shut and offered for me to come by tommorow to take a look at the progress and welding and take picture (which I will post when I get back). They are getting the lexus is300 paint which cost 180 alone just for the paint. the color code is 3p0 if anyone is interested. I am so nervous on the out come I just hope it all goes well.

 

VERY GOOD Deal, well thats if work is quality. Paint jobs with body work around here are 2500+. Im sending my car to az to get painted .. well actually i have a buddy that might pick up painting

 

single stage paint? how many layer? clear coat?

 

yeah man, i paid 4000$ for a 3 stage paintjob with 4 layers of clear coat.. i get it back tommorow

 

$850.00 for a professional, no-Bondo, no-bullshit paintjob...Jesus Christ: you thought that was expensive? Similar work probably costs between $2500 and $4000 every other place on earth.

By the way, "$180 for the paint alone" isn't very much at all. You're getting an insanely good deal.

 

are you getting door jambs/engine bay/trunk floor done?

 

The work includes the door jams. Not the trunk lid but my car was milano red so it won't be that bad and noticable. They are doing base coat, another coat, then the final coat, uv protectiant, clear coat, and they are sending a guy to my house a couple days later to wet sand the car however that cost another 175.
How many pints of paint do they usally use to paint an entire car.

You're getting a really cheap paint job. Hopefully it turns out dope. Usually we pay around 200-500 for just the paint.

Sounds good man. I wanna see some pics. My friend just got his integra w/ JDM front end painted. They did everything, door jambs, clear coat, wet sand. He payed about the same, but it was his buddy that painted it, so he got hooked up I guess. If anyone wants to see I can post some pics.

If the work turns out good, you got a ******* amazing deal! I would say what you described would come out to about $4,000 on average.

 

hahah yeah. I just wrote a check for 2050 dollars for just a paint job. I only got my antenna and emblem shaved. If the work turns out good, i feel like a **** up, but thats gonna be hard to believe.
