Replacing Driver's Rear Window motor in 91 Accord?? Suggestions?
Several questions:
1. Where is the best place to buy a replacement?
2. How is this replaced? I looked it over and I see 2 cables coming out of the motor and I do not see how it will come out in one piece. My chilton's only has about 1 paragraph on removal and replacement. Pretty much says "Unbolt the old motor, remove it, replace it."
3. Is this a common failure?
Thanks.

Junkyard: cheap < $20. see my sig and make some phone calls. A "dismantler" would have what your looking for pretty much exactly & w/ the least sweat.
That's a pretty unusual motor to go out. A junkyard motor should be fine since that window isn't opened/closed as much normally as the driver's or passenger's. Less cycling over time means more life post-salvage.
Edit: You might first experiment with cleaning up the electrical contacts w/ some sand paper....see if that does anything. Second...you might try shooting some kind of cleaner into the motor. Could just be all gummed up.

I can't get the motor out without removing the whole window and regulator assembly.
From there, I still don't think the motor will slide out through the top, but I am unable to see if the cables come off of the regulator. And if so, how the do. The manual pretty much says "Remove motor and put in new one." It is worthless as far as hints, pictures, instructions, etc.
A new motor runs $200 from Checker Auto and Autozone can't even get it.
