Being a previous GS-R owner... it has come to my mind today that honda/acura possible mixed up the making of the keys.

On my GSR, I remember the keys hacing a RED on the key


On my Type-R I have a WHITE on the keys.

Tough to see but as you all know its white.


I would think that the typer would have the red A, just food for thought. Sorry I was bored and checking out old pics on my own website

 

2000 had the red key. Changed to white in 2001.

Strange, but that's the way it was.

Always liked the red key though

98 also had the red key. 97 keys just said "ACURA" on them.

 

My 1998 Key is gray and says "Integra Type R" on it

My other keys are black with red ACURA

I thought '98 had the pimpy special key.

Besides, aren't the '00-'01 keys physically larger because of the chip?

 

All Acura's purchased brand new from the dealership should have a red key. The valet key is grey. The key with the white logo is a spare cut key and is an exact copy of the master key.

All of those white keys should be part number 35113-SY8-T5 and they are programmable keys.

 

not the 2k1's...unless the dealerships are plotting to steal our cars!!

My 01 came with a red and a white one Doesn't really mather though as the paint falls out after a few months of use anyways.

 

yeah my 98 key is special cause its grey with "titanium" paint and says 'Integra Type R" on it.

I have one of those blingin' keys also Came w/ my 97'

I have two spares w/ just red Acura on em'

Would you or anybody else with a key like this please post a picture? It is one of those that you get from like "Driver's Seat" or something?

 

They look like this and can be purchased on ebay or even possibly through your dealer. Ebay seems to have real and fake ones.

sniff sniff sniff..... I don't have the type r key like the 98's

I took out my white strip on the key though so its all black. Well it fell out of its own actually

 

97-98 - Oval "Integra Type R" key
00 - Red "A" w/immobilizer chip
01 - White "A" w/immobilizer chip

Remember it was around 2000-2001 Acura started changing it colors from grey/red to dark blue/white.

My 01 key, the white has almost completely worn off, so now it has a black "A".

This is correct, the spares for the 98 just had the red Acura logo on it, I believe the 97's were the same too.

00-01 had the A logo on it...

The older GSR's had just the word Acura written in red, as the spares were for my 98 ITR

Did you get a gray valet key as well?
