Ok here's a little info. I have a 88 CRX HF with an LS swap. Stock internals with I/H/E. Estimated 150 HP.

I'm looking to buy a set of slicks (size 20x8x14), but I have a question. I only race for fun on the weekend, and I don't want to spend alot of money for drag wheels. Can I put these slicks on an old set of wheels that are 6" wide? I've seen ALOT of people do this, but I've heard to go -/+ 1" rim size, no more.

Another question, will these slicks affect my gear ratio? Some people I've talked to say yes, some say no.

I've run 20x8x14's on a set of stock neon wheels (6" wide). No problems at all. I even cut 1.80 60 ft's on them (spinning them of course ) .

 

Yeah most of these are run on 14x6 wheels as finding anything larger becomes kinda challenging. You will be ok. Your gearing will be slightly lower. That's a good thing for your set-up.
