Default my ls-vtec setup.

here are my future plans i am a newbie at all this so please take it easy on me if i have been steered in the wrong direction.... also if i am missing anything that is absolutly necessary please let me know.... t.i.a

1GEN B16 head, 90-93 gsr tranny, upgraded clutch, lightened flywheel, dc sports short shifter, gsr oil pump, bbk fuel pump, aem fuel rail and fpr, itr pistons, tenabe racing medallion exhaust, dc sports header, aem cai, vafc.

Are you going to be using the stock rods? If so, APR rod bolts should be on that list.

to me it seems your focusing on some of the wrong things and your not knowing how ls/vtecs work or why they break. check the link in my signature. then read up at

thanks the thread was very helpful with the exception of all the smart asses in there...lol i figure i need this aswell.....ARP Rod bolts,Shotpeened rods or new forged or billet rods,arp head bolts, forged pistons or oil squirters.

There have ben a few posts about shotpeening rods and it actual ineffectivness. Also you don't need forged pistons. OEM Honda pistons are actually very good. Oil squirters are another thing that I personally think is an unneccessary expense. These are just my opinions of course.

an area honda tuner whom is running an ls vtec setup and he told me to use the forged pistons aswell mainly because the stockers will heat up at the high rpms.
true or no.....? tia
