After almost exactly one year, I revisited a favorite spot of mine and took some shots. Unfortunately, I screwed up the iso/exposure time and over exposed a bunch of them. Ah well...

thank you for the compliments.
Canon G5 (last year was a Nikon Coolpix 990). The G5 blows the 990 away with color reproduction and obviously 2 megapixels more capture ability.
I will go out tomorrow night and take some better ones now that I've hammered the ISO issues out. It didn't help that it rained going to this spot (the spot is about a mile away and it rained here but not there
)
I suppose I should post a daytime shot, this one was taken yesterday:

nice pics! they came out really vivid. Your night shots are amazing. I just got a digi camera and hope to take quality pics like those. Any tips? (besides upgrading to superior hardware? I got a Canon A70)

Thanks for the compliments guys, they mean a lot
IM me and I'll upload a bigger shot for you to download...the native resolution on these is like 2500x1900 so they resize nicely.

-Get a tripod or rest the camera on the ground.
-Turn up exposure time and ISO. Mess around a bit. Try say 1sec exposure with 200 ISO.
-Turn off flash
Different cameras offer different settings. If you keep it on automatic and turn off the flash it should compensate enough to get a decent picture. If you have something like Paint Shop Pro or Photoshop you can alter things later.
Nate - exhaust is an Apex'i WS. Got it for $50...flows bad but looks pretty good
...I'm turning into a ricer, I know it...

i haven't even begun to mess around with the exposure!! haha
canon </TD></TR></TABLE>
You use ISO settings to control the image "noise". It's not considered an exposure setting. When taking night shots, you generally want to use a longer shutter speed, and a higher aperture setting, to allow more light to come in. That paired with a low ISO setting will usually produce a sharp picture, as you can see from his pics above.
