Yesterday morning my brother receives a call from a Brooklyn precinct indicating that my R has been recovered. Since I was upstate working at the time I couldn't be reached until I came back down to NYC today.

They arrested a group of at least four people as well.

As for the R apparently the wheels are gone but that's about it. I won't know the true extent of the damage until I see the car for myself on Monday.

Right now I'm not sure how lucky I am to know that the R was recovered a day after being reported stolen AND having arrests made as well.

Congratulations on getting your ITR back man! Now all they need to do is string them bastards up by their ***** and beat the **** out of them. Sorry, had to vent. I'm happy someone got their car back in good enough condition that it woll be back on the road in a few weeks.

believe me... ive been threw your whole situation... my r was stolen and recovered and the theif was aprehended as well.
consider yourself real lucky.... in the past 2 weeks my friends type r and gsr were stolen.. the gsr was found in NEWARK NJ(CAR THEFT CAPITAL OF THE WORLD) stripped.. the r hasnt been recovered yet.
hopefully you can get some new rims out of this as well

consider this.. if there is any damages, can we say new paint? new C Fiber hood? need stereo.. of course if your deductable is $250-$500. thats worst case scenario... other wise.. bring a camera and take pictures and see how the bastrad stole your R. Do others agree?

Damn ur lucky your car was recovered, well hopefully they didn't mess it up too bad or take it for a joyride. My car was stolen like 5 months ago and I will never see it again. Maybe they are the @#%$@% who took my baby. I think timberwulf has a good idea, I wanna hit them bastards first tho. Maybe we should torture them until they tell us what other cars they stole, damn them.

I'm glad to hear they recovered your car. The thing is, I don't understand how they are steeling Type R's since they have that anti-theft device. You know, the key has a chip in it that the car needs in order to start. How are they starting the car without the key? This concerns me, as I figured my car was nearly theft proof with that (of course, towing/flatbedding will do the trick). As far as I know, the ECU communicates with the chip in the key, and without this, the car won't start, it'll turn over, but will never start. Let me know what you guys think/know about this system and why you think the cars are being stolen without having the keys.

 

Dude that's great news. Any word on who those four guys were working for? NYC seems to have a well-established network of car thieves judging by how many people's cars have been stolen there on this board alone. Again, great news, glad to hear it.

 

UPDATE: The car was recovered early Friday morning. Two people were in the car, but they ratted on two other people who were the ones that stole it. It was located somewhere in East New York in Brooklyn, 75th precinct.

I'm getting conflicting reports about the car's condition. One officer I spoke to said the car was in one piece a different officer said it was missing wheels. The arresting officer (who I still have to speak to to press charges) wasn't in at the time to confirm the condition.

 

I wish, I had stock rims painted black. Of course if the wheels are gone that means Volks are going on there.

 

but the point was to see if insurance will pay for it hehehe you pay it for a reason
