Honda Challange and Hyper Fest drive!!!
I attened my first Honda Challange event today and also got a chance to hit the track at Summit Point, WV. with a Dope *** driving instructor!!! I recently slapped a turbo on my Eg hatch with a b20 motor in. I had several suspension upgrade, GC 350f/300r, GSR front sway, ITR rear sway, Cusco 6pt cage, Bilstiens HD, some Azenis, and I had just gotten my car aligned just 2 days before, AEM break pads were installed maybe 2 months ago; so I felt my car was up to the challange. I had ran the 1/4 2 weeks before at 12.6 (9 psi), so the car wasnt exactly slow.
My instructor, a ******* Honda-tech member!! Doctor CorteZ rode along with me to help me through the track. This man knows his ****!! I was hitting over 120 mph at the straights with ease. Everything felt great!! but after the third lap my breaks faded!!! couldnt stop worth a dick.... Comming up to turn 5, I believe, Doctor cortez and I shot right through the turn and onto the grass!! Doc was like "yeah you kinda want to slow down when you got no breaks"( I'll post some pics of it when I get them from my boy..).. Overall the event and the experience was great!! I paid forty bucks to take my car all out for 20 mins with an instructor in my passenger seat.. It was great.. I wished Doc. coulda driven a lap or two.. cause that man knows his track.. He pointed out every perfect racing line and exactly where to turn.. it felt great!!! I even got to pass a dood!! lol great time.

short movie of crazy Honda Challenge race car going at it on turn five..(an accord locked its breaks and did the exact samething I did)

Yeah, Jamie is pretty cool (I think he's Doctor Cortez anyway). An accord you say? Who was that, Morgan? Tsk tsk tsk... Anyways, nice to welcome another track *****, now get some decent brake pads, those AEMs aren't worth crap. Also, are you running with stock brake fluid? You'll probably want to get something with a higher boiling temperature, like ATE Superblue or something. Good to hear you enjoyed yourself, I've been stuck at work all day, otherwise I would've been there as well...
Definitely do a FATT, it's worth way more than $175. Even in the rain it's awesome, though in a different way. NASA also holds two day events, check it out at http://www.nasaproracing.com. I'll be back September 6,7, don't have enough money for anything else...

Yep, Jamie is the man! Be sure to get a ride in an instructors car next time you get out to the track, it's a real eye opener.
And you might want to invest in some good brake fluid and track pads next time.

right on.. some one with some sense... I mean a lot of the N1 cars uses them compititly over in Japan, just because its not SCCA approved doesnt mean its bad..turbo isnt allowed in Honda Challenge races but does that mean its bad?

lol
as far as doing their job- keeping you safe - Cusco cages are pure ****. Thin diameter/walled tubing, multiple bends in the rear down tubes, no cross tubes.
what a joke. they sure are pretty though.
there is a reason for SCCA rules on cages and rollbars-- thats to keep you safe.
Cusco stuff is pure bling.

I find it very hard to believe that this exact same cage is used in any wheel to wheel race series. However.... even if it is in use somewhere, that does not make it acceptable in any way, shape or form.
those bends in the forward tubes are just itching to be a failure point.
Oh... and these 'bolt' together joints? Might as well have made it out of lincoln logs.
Those are also some very small feet on the cage as well.

How bad. Did he roll or just tip over. I've seen violent impacts at the track, and from an engineering standpoint the 'cage' isnt as stout as a autopower or custom weld-in.
