Best "Bang for the Buck" Reliable FI on a 95 LS
Well, I decided not to get a GS-R..I'm going to keep my 95 LS w/ 86k.
I've been poking around the FI forums- and was wondering what everybodys opinions are for best bang for the buck FI setups which are reliable?
I was leaning towards GReddy- and I've read something about using a D-series kit and modifying it for the B18B? What's everybodys take on this? I'm not looking to be the quickest car out there, just faster while maintaining as reliable a setup as possible.
thanks!

That would work..however the 15g turbo in the greddy kit is pretty small for a LS motor. Although it will work.
I recommend either piecing together a kit yourself, or getting something used (you can get good deals out there if you look around).
But any boost is better then *no* boost!

at about $1500 it's dirt cheap..is anybody around here doing this or what? where's info on the manifolds/piping/whatever needs to be changed? What kind of gains are people seeing? I'm definitely going to go used.

best bang for buck for power/reliability:
-revhard manifold
-T3/T04e 50 or 57 trim
-tial wastegate
-hondata
-Flamenco-T oil line kit
Pay a good tuner to tune it and run 10psi. It will be fast. Way faster then that greddy crap.

Hmm. What's ballpark price range on that?

Yes you can modify the D-Series to fit....two of the holes on the outiside of the manifold dont line up, but you can open them up. Made a noticable difference on a ZC, so it will still help on a LS.

1500 is non-intercooled and I dont think it comes with a bov either. Add those 2 to the price and you have yourself a used drag kit or even better.
i got a SOHC with greddy kit in it and it made a huge difference..
im sure you will gain a good amount of HP and TQ in your car. if you are just looking to boost very low then this is the way to go..

Why not go with a Maxrev kit from http://www.ks-motorsports.com ? I think its like $2400 for the kit, sometimes i wished i went that route, i basically pieced the same thing together for alittle less but it had its headaches...
build it yourself, you'll save a ton of $$. but then again, if you don't know too much about FI then you're better off buying a kit.

I remember a long time ago I was on some guy's homepage. He had a Del Sol with GReddy SOHC kit powered LS. It ran a high 12 at 10psi. I chatted with him before and he said he cracked a cylinder wall at 12psi. Sorry I can't find the link but I think he took his page down anyway. I would reccomend that kit for Best Bang for the Buck on an LS as long as you use an intercooler and upgrade the engine management if you plan to boost higher.

I dunno but I found his webpage. It hasn't been updated in years and I don't think he drives this car anymore.

There aren't any pics of his 'slips or what his exact track setup was. I think he is in Florida. Does anyone know of him?

that car is from, or used to be from dallas. And if I am not mistaken he was the very first mod of Honda-tech FI. This was before I was even a mod.

you really only need to modify the sohc manifold to fit your b-series dohc head. i believe only the two outer bolts don't match up. also some port matching may help it flow a little better. the ic, bov, and s-afc are just added safeguards and are highly recommended. hth.

I see. so the piping is the same size?
