Tranny problem
Hey all, I got a problem. My car hesitates to go into gear. I hae a 99 Accord V6, auto tranny. My engine came one and i got a code 7 and a code 41 for the tranny. Cose 7 is the tps but my car idles fine it just doesnt go into that fast. I looked up code 41 and it says its the Defective Shift Control System - Fails To Shift, Stuck In 1st Or 4th Gears. Does anyone now where and what part i need. thanks
if you have the extended warranty on the car, then i'd suggest that you bring it back to Honda, ASAP. the 6th gen accord v6 auto trannys are notorious for messing up. mainly due to poor engineering..kinda like the 5th gen preludes.
get your tps replaced first, since it has a direct effect on ecu controlled shift points. im sure your honda dealer can order it for you, but you can also order oem replacement parts from http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com

TPS may be functional at idle but messed up somwhere else......
ok guys for everyone that says the 6th gen trannies are junk, they took a poll over at v6performance.net (the old accordv6 page) and they found that the failure rates on the transmissions were not signifigantly higher (once they factored in the I drive like an **** or beat the tranny into submission factor)
Now saying that the units do have a higher failure rate than previous honda units and I think that has to do with GM helping honda in some of the design....Honda took the high road and offered 70K protection and so far it has worked. My friend has a '99 Accord V6 with 97K on the clock and that car runs like the day it was bought.....she does NOT dog the car..........

Even though the transmissions are electronically controlled, they're still hyrdaulic driven. If there isn't enough fluid it WILL have adverse effects on other functions.
Do a flush and refill it. If that still doesnt fix it, test the shift solenoids. There is also about 12347617631194632148973264 other things that can be causing this. But those are the most common.

I have a letter from honda them selves saying that they carried the warranty on the transmission to 7 years 100,000 miles not 70,000. The best thing is to call honda and ask one of the service managers what they warranty is.
