what's a scattershield?

Hybrid ctr - who's been wondering for quite awhile

 

its a 1/4 inch thick steel fastened with 3/8" bolts that surround ur tranny in case the flywheel lets go. at high RPM a flywheel can shred through sheetmetal and the tranny casing like a hot knife through butter. a scattershield prevents this from happening in case it does let go.
