is it safe for me to rev my stock internaled b18c1 to 8500 when at the drag strip???

i have a chipped p28 with vtec at 5200 and rev limmit at 8550.

i dont rev it this high on a daily basis, but at the dragstrip its nice to get those few extra rpm's

could 8500 cause valve float??
