No headers for the 03 Accord V6...
Turns out Honda made the exhaust ports where the cat attaches part of the head for low emissions. I thought I could use the CL headers and gain some HP but not anymore...
Guess I'll have to see if the CL-S exhaust system fits...
Already have the front/rear sway bars from the CL-S, will see if they fit next week...also the front brakes on the 03 V6 6 speed car are the same as the CL-S 11.8" fronts(rears are the same) and they will bolt on the regular 4 and 6 cyl knuckles. Will need 16" wheels to clear.

Comptech's making a J-pipe instead of headers. Don't worry abou theaders anyways. There's already a turboed 03 accord v6 at http://www.v6performance.net
I know that and ther reason that they are like that has everything to do with the regulations on new car emissions getting tighter and tighter....about the only mod that you can do easily will be the supercharger........
that guy turbo'd the car man that had to be a lot of work since the cats are almost right in the cylander heads so you have to fabricate a lot more stuff to get it in there...not to mention rewiring stuff like O2 sensors

what makes you think that supercharging of all things would be easy to do on a 7th gen v6?
supercharging an OBD1 bseries is a pain as it is, i cant imagine tuning the accord v6

obviusly you don't know about the 6th gen kit available from Comptech for the 200HP V6 that is OBD2

a supercharger would pretty much be a bolt on for this engine since you really do not have to fiddle with anything to get it installed.....

Tuning a 7th gen Accord V6 will be easier then a 6th gen due to freer flowing intake manifold, hotter cams, and manual transmission. Just because you can't throw on headers doesn't mean it's not mod friendly.
isn't 240hp enough for now??? why void your warranty on a turbo or s/c. if you wanted more power you should have bought something faster to begin with. like a 03 maxima for example or G35 or a used S4 or M3.

I'm unfamiliar with this concept of "enough" horespower. please explain it to me, as I just can't seem to grasp it
Anyone have a pic of the 03 acoord v6 head? I'm curious about the headers being partially cast into the head. sounds like a bad idea to me.

yeah im aware of it, im assuming you were addressing me
what is it run 5psi? its crap and not worth the money

I dont know what planet you live on but yes it does mean its not mod friendly. Modifying exhaust manifolds is a staple of performance modification.
I'm also confused on your definiton of "tuning". What does stock equipment have to do with anything related to tuning?
You cant "tune" a manual tranny....you could modify the clutch and flywheel, but there is nothing to "tune". Its not like a bseries where you can mix and match transmission parts, the only other tranny that would work is a CL-S and their inter-compatibility I'm not aware of.
There is also no such thing as a stock intake manifold or camshaft that is sufficient.
Please tell me what you know about the ECU for the new 7th gen accord V6 that allows all this tuning you speak of, because I havent heard of anyone (HONDATA, Apexi) making stuff for it yet.

Nick M,
I am guessing that long term reliability is not an issue to you then. That kit is meant to last the life of the engine and I really do not see a problem with "only" 5 PSI....I am I am gonna dump $5G on performance, I would hope that it lasts a while... tooo many horror stories in here about people blowing turbos after a short time......

The reason why it's so low is because Comptech knows that the transmission for the 6th gen Accord is crap and blows easy. The 5psi is high enough as it is to blow the tranny. However there is another pulley available that I believe it raises it to 8psi. Considering the lack of mods for the 6th gen Accord, a guy that wants to seriously modify this car should start here and a tranny upgrade (if it ever comes out).

You don't need headers to make a car fast. There's already a 7th gen 6spd running a turbo.
When I meant tuning, I meant putting in mods to get more power. Sorry too lazy to type.
Stock manifold and camshaft sufficient: see Type R or CL/TL Type S. We know how every GS-R throws Type R parts on for NA apps. Type S variable intake manifold and cams are pretty sufficient enough since there's some Type S guys running 12-13s.
And the point of my previous post was that with the example I gave you about having a manual available, better intake manifold, etc. The 6th gen Accord which is a very mod restrictive car doesn't have a lot of engine mods available for it. Since the new 7th gen has a much better version of the j30a engine in it, manufactureres will make plenty of mods for the car. Remember back in like 98 when HKS made a prototype turbo kit for the 6th gen Accord. All the magazines that tested it noticed how the tranny life was drastically shortened with the extra power. Companies saw this and stayed away from making engine mods for the 6th gen Accord because they didn't feel there was a market for modding the Accord with the lackluster engine/tranny combo.

i really love when everyone talks so much trash about the Av6 accords because they i love mine. these cars respond really well to the mods that are out there and just because they do not have tons of parts out there for them does not mean that they are not mod friendly. Granted that the tranny is the weak point and that is what holds a lot of people back, but the motor is not a lackluster motor at all and after i am done with what i want to do everyone on here will understand why i did not follow the same path of getting a civic and modding it. i will get down off the soap box now, but seriously guys keep an open mind there is potential in everything.
Go do a dyno or take your car to the track with the mods. Accords stock run low 16s. With intake, headers, exhaust get mid 15s. I've seen other Honda/Acuras gain a whole second with that. Accords dyno at like mid 150s. With the same above combo, I've seen high 160s. A 15hp peak gain is not great for the $1500 you just dropped on i/h/e. Sure they respond but other cars respond wayyyy better. But I ain't knocking the car, I love my Accord. It's a challenge. That's why I'm doing the cams install. :D
