MUGEN HARDTOP
I finally decided to lose weight by replacing the soft top, the door plastics, and some other, so I will need a hardtop. but I am wondering. If I lose 160kilos and the hardtop is about 80kilos I only lose 80kilos and I have a cut-car. Does that worth? Another solution is the mugen Carbon hardtop, but that costs 4500$!!! Too expensive for a hardtop too cheap for a big CF part, but with 4500$ I could do something more important. What do you think?
If you are trying to loose weight for racing I would go with the Mugen CF top. If not then I would just go with factory top or the Mugen fiberglass top. Good luck!
one small point of critisism, but I don't know your driving experiences at all, nor your budget limitations here.
but don't you think that ~$5K would be better spent on a spare set of wheels, lots of tires, lots and lots of brake pads and TONS of track time to improve your driving skills? That would make you faster, not necessarily the car. But if you are going for straight line street racing, please ignore any and all posts by me, cause that's just the pure rush of a whopping 10 seconds of danger to the rest of the people out there.

Well I'm not a rich. Everything I've bought I 've made some crazy economie in order to take it, but light-bigger wheels are of course in my plants. Also in my plants is a ~7000000euro turbo that is about 460whp. (I don't know other specs, sorry) Now as for the interior, I like very much the way it is, but I thing the doors and the dashboard, and the softtop mechanics and the softtop, all of them are weight alot. A racing seat is in my plans, but the main question is: is it worth to "destroy" the car for lose weight? Please is you have any other pics post them. As for my driving experience I think im very good cause I have a friend of my father, whose a racing driver (Sotiris Ziakas) and he teaches me how to drive with a SUPER 1600 micra.
Yeah 80kilos is enough, but if it is about 20kilos, then why that s2000 weights so much? Because of the roll-bars? That's the S2000 I was telling you.http://www.teamtoilet.com/mike/mike2003.htm

Consider the Amuse full dry carbon hardtop. Its over $9000 for the S2000.

I guess your right.... if your gonna buy a $30,000 Honda roadster you can only settle for the best!
Unlike some of these S' I've seen around my neighborhood w/ fart cans and annoying kits.....

I told that in my plans is the turbocharger. So why to spend another $4500 for power? You are not satisfied with 460hp???

well, you wouldn't be *permenantly* damaging your car, at least. All the stuff could go back in at a later time, and as a bonus, you would then have a mint interior.
If you want to cut weight on a budget, you could strip the OEM hard-top. remove the headliner, hm, maybe have a lexan window fabbed up. The metal itself doesn't weigh much... and you could even have that shaved or acid-dipped or something, i would imagine. when i visited spoon a few years ago, they had a top that they had sanded, i think, to thin the metal. it was just the metal part, but i was surprised at how little it weighed when i picked it up- 2 kg, i think.
just some ideas!

It is always worth it to gut stuff to save weight. It is basicly free performance. While you are at it remove all the undercoating and seam weld the chassis. Gutting useless parts is fun for the whole family.
