1,000 feet lower would be worth travelling for (especially for all motor racers)

yeah thats pretty close for me, the only problem is that constuction is taking WAY longer than they expected, the NOPI event in Oct (i think) was supposed to be there, now they changed it to Fontucky, at California Speedway.
It looks like it will be a nice track though when it opens

You are absolutely right! I had the opporunity to check out Banning about 2 years ago. We were going to race, however it was raining and the track was wet. So, all we did was drive down the strip so the track would dry up. Banning has been scheduled to open for quite some time now. WHEN it does open up, it will be a great addition to all of the other tracks available to Southern California.

Let me think...
LACR, Palmdale
Pomona
Irwindale Speedway
CA Speedway, Fontana...aka Fontuckey
Carlsbad
Barona

Well, San Diego has an alternative to street racing at Qualcomm Stadium put on by RaceLegal.com. But it's not a fully prep tracked like the others. Still a place to race though.

Am I missing anymore?

Pomona is closed to the public, LACR is in BFE, Carlsbad is okay but in bad shape, I havent been to irwindale or CSW, qualcomm and borona meh.

i think you need to include Bakersfield as well (just as far as Palmdale)... and that is one of the best tracks out here!!!!

exactly, man i went out there two weeks ago and it was so windy and dusty!! i havent been to bakersfield yet, i plan on going in august when they have the battle of the imports.
im not too crazy about 1/8 mile tracks because our cars are not torque monsters they get their speed top end, or at least mine is like that. sometimes i think even 1/4 mile is too short
but yeah as for cali having a lot of tracks we do, there is also the one in nor cali in sonoma, never been there though
