Younger brother's Type R meets older brother's new S2000
Quite possibly the best handling front wheel drive and rear wheel drive vehicles on the planet. They both have sky high redlines, red valve covers, and HID Xenon lights!

I still say the S2K is a yuppies car (no offense intended of course Josh).
Let's go around to all the dealers and start ripping out the A/C and then we'll see how many of those Frappacino (sp?) drinking S.O.B.'s buy them!! (j/k of course).
Looks nice Josh. Course I think the R has a lot nicer shine to it

Just pointing out the trouble we get into when we label others.

Um, the Type-R is a cheap FWD Racer boy car.
I mean don't get me wrong, i love my R, but it is just that.
Weather you choose to take that as a negative or a positive is your choice. I think it is a positive

I have the same situation going on, me with my yellow R and my big brother with his black S2000. We have a blast crusing down back roads together. Good time.
lol. Makes me wish I had a cool brother instead of an evangelist sister... But HEY, what can you do?
Those are a couple of nice cars you guys have there... sheesh that digi cam takes nics pictures

A Neon is a CHEAP FWD racer boy car. The Type R is an affordable, hand built, track car/daily driver.

I'm going to have to disagree on this one Josh. I love the car, but man nothing compared to the quality of a real hand built sports car. i love the R for what it is an affordable race prepped car for the weekend racer.
My comments about the S2K stem from test driving it. It's too docile (sp?). The shifts are way too smooth almost and you really can't feel the car the way you can on say the type-R or other similar cars. I found it hard to drive the S2K to it's limits due to the lack of input from the road.

Good luck getting Type R owners to admit that the S2000 is a better car from the factory in every respect. EVERY respect that is objective, as opposed to opinion.
Keep in mind they are dirrerent cars for different people, and budgets.
onyx00: frappuccino drinkers, eh: the reason acura put A/C in the R for 00/01 is so many 97/98 buyers were having it put in. and thats the first time ive ever heard a complaint about a tranny being TOO smooth. nice. no hat here, just commenting on comments.
I sure wouldnt admit it when I owned 00 ITR 981,

The motors aren't even hand-ported/polished. Only the very early '96 model R were hand-ported/polished. The use a machine to do it. It is more precise and easier to duplicate.
Thats according to the CEO of Spoon. I have a video that tells ALL about the Rs.

I find the S2000 hard to drive its limit too because it is REAR WHEEL DRIVE. I don't have any experience driving a RWD vehicle. After driving the S2000 around town and then jumping in to my R I really appreciate how easy and forgiving it is during high speed cornering. But with an experience driver the S2000 is faster and corners better.

I'm not saying the ITR and the S2000 ARE the BEST sports cars in the world but they sure beat a lot of high end (and more expensive) sports cars on the track.
I Love the S2000 and I wouldn't even think twice about getting one, I would get one over an NSX. Only reason I haven't gotten one yet is I have to save alot of money to put into my 2000 ITR, since I just finished putting close to $20,000 into My 98
I dunno, I think you guys are crazy.
The R having A/C I think really has nothing to do with it; it was a good idea by Acura so they would sell more Type-R's. I go to school in Arizona, you try driving there without A/C.
i am not saying the Type-R is a better cat than the S2K, i don't think that is what i am getting at here. People say the S2K is the ultimate sports car for it's price range (are dealers still asking like 40K? That is an even bigger load of ****). I think the S2K is a nice sporty convertible that Honda made to compete with the Z3 and Mustang GT convertibles.
I don't think the S2K feels as fast as so many claim. The handling is great, but I think it is way too soft. It doesn't have a rigid feel like one would expect.
Again, I have nothing against the S2K, I was goign to buy one, but in all honestly I don't think it is a drivers car.
Say what you will, call me a moron, idiot, whatever, but I think the S2K is simply a newer "Miata" type car; nothing special.

I have to disagree, i rode in my buddies S2k across Deals Gap and back, and the car is VERY rigid, and felt very fast, even though it got smoked by my friends JRSC GSR, Si w/ 55shot and Accord w/ 55shot
Ah well, to each their own right? I still woul love to have a S2K, just not being able ot carry groceries is a problem.
Has anyone seen the hard top S2K's? I thought they were supposed to be out this year. When i first saw one I thought "Yuck!!! I'll take the convertible"

onyx00 - I grew up in Tucson - and yeah, no A/C is not an option.
I'll admit that there is a valid debate on the merits of the ITR vs the merits of the S2000 - but what really counts is "panty dropping factor." - the merits of which are still debateable, but heavily favor the S2000
As for suspension setup, its a fact that its a softer ride that the R, no doubt - as for chassis rigidity - the s2000 rides on rails.
Its my first RWD car, and even after 10000 miles since March, I'm still apprehensive and a little nervous when the back end steps out - i mess with the wheel, clutch, gas and brake and it all works itself out.
Watch the Best Motoring Internation Volume 1 if you get a chance - the last 15 minutes are an S2000 prototype on the Neuremberg (sp?) Ring - theres no doubt that the S2000 kicks *** in the hands of a capable driver (which i am slowly becoming)
