Bought a 99 Accord, give me some motor basics:::
You bought a nice car. I should know i have the same one. The engine makes about 200 hp but the auto tranny blows *** cuz it doesnt shift when ur racing. And if ur shifting through the gears urself u might wanna watch out cuz sometimes the check engine light will come on. But ive never had any other problems with it so good luck.
you have the J30a1 engine which puts out about 200 at 5500 hp im not shure about the hp to the wheels. the max torque you get is 95 at 4700. its a SOCH and it has vtec. your compression ratio is 9.4:1 and your displacement is 2997. Your bore stroke is 86.1 x 86.1. the good thing is that your car has alot of horses for an accord for that year stock. the bad part is that its an automatic trany. one of the other draw backs is that the accord its self is very heavy. but other than that is a pretty dayme good car. i have a 2000 4cyl and a 2002 V6 and im very happy wid both!!

I've seen them dyno like 155hp-157hp over at http://v6performance.net. With intake, headers, exhaust you'll be up to like high 160-low 170s. You might run like mid 15s. You really can't abuse the tranny because it WILL blow if abused. You really can't go crazy with mods due to the tranny and lack of availability. You can get a supercharger as well for about $3800. Nitrous is a nice cheap alternative. I would recommend also the UR pullies and Acura CL-S camshafts. Just make sure you do your tranny fluid changes religiously.
Nah, the 151 HP must be for the 2.3L engine (the inline 4). Edmunds lists that at 150 HP.
The 3.0 V6 engine is listed at 200 hp, 195 ft-lbs of torque, and 5500 rpm of max horsepower.

Unfortunately, in 1999 Honda did not make the V6 with manual transmission, which is why I went with the inline 4. With a manual, the I4 is actually somewhat sporty and jumps when I tell it to jump.

Heat,
We are referring to horsepower at the wheels. This is true hp. 200hp is rated at the crank. But when you measure the actual hp it loses power when the power transfers to the wheels. An i4 Accord probably dynoes in the 120s-130s hp.

I think you meant manual tranny.
No problem Heat. We all learn at one point.

You mean you didn't research anything about the car before you bought it?
Try google.com, no offense. There's also a search feature in the upper-left hand corner of this website. There's plenty of good sites out there with this general info.
