it's a "tyrus" intercooler. it has a good reputation on http://www.homemadeturbo.com and his homepage is in my signature.

thats all u really need. those bigger intercoolers are hidden behind the bumper cover and dont get any air. they just get heatsoaked...... in turbodandee's case however, a gtr core with the bumper cover cut to match the i/c it's fully functional.

perfect sized i think, anything bigger is just overkill and a waste of money and will probably have the same cooling efficency because it will be hidden behind the bumper

I built up enough courage (after a few beers of course) to go at it with my cutting saw and hacked my front bumper most of the way...

here it is afterwards...like I said...perfect fit if you ask me. I'm happy as hell

That intercooler looks perfect for 96-98 civics...

Looks like is the same size of the front bumper opening.

that intercooler looks tiny....(heightwise)

does the length compensate for that?

you like it?

yup i've got the same intercooler and was told it was off a truck...so the person i bought it from was somewhat telling me the truth. anyway, it's not small at all. and it's also more effecient than the larger FMIC in my opinion as the air travels a longer distance and is allowed to cool longer. not only that...the inlet and outlet are located right at the center of the tanks allowing somewhat of a more even air flow throughout the intercooler. this is IMO, a great intercooler for under 23 psi setup.

ok, well my july 4th night was spent on the floor of the shop getting pissed off and cutting up pipes with my sawzall like a madman until I got my temp pipes all fabbed up and installed. well, now it's on and functioning just fine.

took it for a spin just a few minutes ago after putting it all back together and a shower and I can't explain it but even though (I'm assuming from the extra volume in the system with the intercooler on) it's @5psi now versus the non-intercooled 9psi I had it at (had the wastegate adjusted to 9psi and didn't touch it at all when intalling the cooler) it feels like it pulls just as hard now as it did before the intercooler install even though it's lacking that extra 4 pounds of boost. any opinions on this??
