Any of you notice how Victor hasn't been around much lately?
When he dissappears I always get the feeling that he's thinking of changing his program. So I called him. Yeah, I was right. No biggy - he and I've had the same conversation several times over now.
He's still kinda pissed about getting bent, and how can I blame him? He wants to RACE. He doesn't want any scaredy cat 13/13 keep 10 feet away parade driving. But he doesn't want to be hit repeatedly by idiots either.
I suggested that the ideal form of motorsports might be karts with indoor style perimeter bumpers run on a full outdoor course. He laughed and agreed. And I'm not just kidding.
Racing is a whole lot of trouble and expense. You can be crazy about it, but after the frenzy of emotion is over there are simply uncountable hours to be spent in the shop.
I've been having a little motivational problem lately with car preperation. It's largely due to some larger organizational management and cash flow problems, which although it doesn't make me special by any stretch, does suggest to me that taking a break to finish the infrastructure would be sensible.
But a break? I just started the season! Late at that! I DON'T THINK SO.
The SoCal guys are getting tired of breaking and crashing. Andy just up and quit last year (which still irritates me since he then committed acts of expenditure that surely would have covered a decent road racing budget). Victor flirts endlessly with the racers nemesis ennui. And I'm frustrated by trying to do things right but having to wait on revenues to catch up with plans. And my revenues, like so many of yours, are not to be taken for granted. It su-ucks.
So tonite I work on the car and try to plan the use of minimal resources in brakes and tires. I will decide tomorrow how much time to spend on the track. Probably just one qualifier and the two races. I'd like to drive more than that, but that'd be enough.
I'll do the qualifier just to find myself in the car. I really want to PASS Greg, so I'll need to be behind him to start with. The single major element of preperation I've completed is deciding where and how to pass him - now I just have to do it. Twice would be good.
Scott, who's looking at the GFCP and wishing the load was a little bigger...wth, here we go.....wwhhheeeeeeee....

Scott. As I've said before, I have a solution to your problem. Stop racing, and ship all your stuff to me so you won't be tempted to start up again. I'll be glad to take on this inconvenience for the sake of such a fine person as I'm sure you are. IM me for the address.

You very funny.
I know, it's alot like complaining that your beautiful wife loves you too much and want's too much sex.
Scott, who's pretty sure Jerry is overestimating how fine a person I am...I'm just an average kind of selfish guy with some probabl brain chemistry challenges...maybe there's a medical solution to my problem? Ain't gonna quit racin' tho....

Changing thread slightly...
I have no interest in wheel-to-wheel racing for a different reason. Knowing that there's someone who will let nothing, including your car, keep him from coming inside your turn-in area at the wrong time, in order to "accidently" bump you off. I see that all the time, "opps, didn't know you were going to turn in." Right.
Spending hours and hours fixing the car because I screwed up is one thing. Fixing it because someone isn't playing nice is different.
You can rightly say, "well, that's racing, if you don't like it, go elsewhere." I did, so now time-trial events are enough to "get it out of my system" just fine, and it's much cheaper.

Ahhh, blow.
You guys kill me. I'd friggin' give my proverbial left nutt to be racing at Summit this weekend. As it sits, I still have yet to build any sizable income through my sales commissions, I have acquired a mortgage almost 3 times the $$ amount of said monthly commissions on average so far, I'm watching the savings that we're living off of dwindle with each monthly payment, and my Integra is still 5 hours away, sitting in a shop dead with no computer, and none available. I have let my SCCA license expire because I'm unable to do the minimum races to keep it current, even in a borrowed ride, and my NASA license might be in jeopardy as well if the cash-flow situation doesn't change. Hell, what does it matter, I don't have a fuggin' car that RUNS!
Quit'cher bitchin' and fix your cars, and go RACE, and quit whining about who may or may not bump your pretty sheet metal, fer cryin' out loud. Either that or all you bastards just stop, sell your ****, and send me all the damn proceeds so I can go race, and you can all live vicariously through me! HA!!!
Bwaaaaaaahhhhh waaaaaaaaaahhhhhh waaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh!!!

Lately I've been a frequent visitor, and hopefully I'll turn into a contributor around here. I really enjoy Scott's posts. But sometimes after reading one of his soliloquies, I feel like I've sat through a Stanley Kubrick movie marathon
As if joining the ranks of w2w racers isn't intimidating enough.
