Default Fair price for a '98 with ~39k miles?

A buddy of mine has expressed an interest in possibly purchasing my car. I have been tossing around the idea of selling it for some time [because I really need a car with more room and cant afford to own two cars]. Pics, etc. are on my web page.

it would include:
APEXi Dunk 115 Series Exhaust
DC Sports DAC Intake
PIAA fog lights
Clear Corners
Mugen Header
TEIN HA Coilovers
Kumho ECSTA Supra 712 [205/50/15] with less then 10k miles
Formula One Premier 35% tint
Sony Mobile ES CDX-C7050X head unit
Alpine SPS-1629 speakers
DEI Alarm

I have the stock headunit and a NIB set of floormats to go with the car
all service has been done at the local Acura dealer

I told him I was thinking around 19k, but am not sure if thats a fair price...

Keith~

Did you get my IM?

Ok, here is my opinion. I found Cameron his '98 R, bone stock, Alpine radio, 28k on it, for $17G. I have another owner that is selling his '98 ITR, bone stock, Alpine alarm and tint, 55k on it, for approx. $16. (Got 2 guys already waiting on him to take arrival of his new BMW, SO NO ONE EMAIL ME ABOUT IT!)

Your car has a lot of mods. Most of the time you need to plan to lose money on the mods or find someone who is willing to pay for what they are. I think $19 is a fair price, especially for the miles. If he doesn't want to pay that, then I think you could piece out a few of the parts pretty easy. (cough..cough!)

I'd hate to see it go, but I guess it could open the way for a WRX or 1.8T. We've had this talk, so I'll let it rest for now.

There is your response!

Chris-

thanks, am glad someone finally decided to reply.

I got your IM, and he is well aware of the suspension- its one of the main selling points....if this falls thru I think I am still going to try and sell the car[and the suspension], I already have something picked out to take its place.

I just checked out autotrader.com and it looked like the 98s are going for between 20-22,000.

Also you linked your website wrong on your sig.

Remember, those are asking prices, not actual selling prices.

Usually, when you're talking with a friend, you're giving him what you consider a fair selling price, and you don't expect to bargain down from there.

I would guess that this car is worth about $17,500 as a fair selling price. If I were advertising it, I'd probably list it for $19,500 and expect to get bargained down a grand or two.

I saw the 20-22 asking prices, and came up with 19 as something I thought was fair. I dont figure many ppl are bargaining more than 1k or so on a car thats as rare as ours......maybe I am wrong......

also, I have a loan to pay off

$19K is pretty fair with the mods you have added. In fact, I would highly suggest you spend a few hundred bucks or so to make it stock again asap.....sell it for about $17K or so, and then piece-sell your parts.

$19k sounds very fair to me... If no accidents or anything.

I'll give you my opinion, though: keep it and get a 4-door beater! ('91 civic 4wd...?) Or a volvo like every other itr owner in NC.....
