Default 87 Crx Should I Swap or Sell

I have a 87 CRX and the motor ceased on me. It was my fault I was Being lazy about the oil and there happened to be a leak and I Never picked up on it.I was to swap a D16A Into it but Ive talked to a few of my friends that have tegs and they say just sell the car and get a 88-91.However I like this car and think a D16 or a B16 DOHC VTEC would go nice.I just perfer the D16 because My friend is a ASE Certified Master Honda Tech and has D16's laying around his garage. He is willing to rebulid one and his rebulids have turned out nice. I just want to get a few opinions about what should be down.

I say go for it. An 87 crx would make for a nice sleeper. If you like it, and things still work fine and look fine on it then go for it. By things, I mean interior looks good, carpet, accessories, electronics..... stuff like that. A swap would definitely be nice.

Just make sure you change the oil at least 4 times a year

you have PM. welcome to the board young padawan

we are all pulling for cory on this one guys. keep in mind his funds are
limited. its his high school car... and its dead. we need to get him back
on the road first, speed well that comes later as with all modified hondas.
my suggestion for him was to either sell the car as is, or drop a D series
in there get it going so he can start making plans for the car. not the car
making plans for him. that sucks, and anyone with a project they cant
afford wouldnt wish that on anyone. he just bought the car for 1300 and
its dead, he can earn the money. however it doesnt make sense to me to
drop $2500-3000 on a B16a total job out the door on a modified, relyable
car when he doesnt even barely have transpo OR MONEY right now. plus...
homey needs to learn his car first on top of all that. my vote:

anything from the D series family, ZC, D16,15 keep it under 1500 out the door with motor keep the car, it owes you a year of daily driving/auto X. Auto X costs money. I know of several motors on the floor of a certain tech that can hook him up good. Maybe even build him a good ZC for cheap
Tires, brakes, maintainence... etc... over time he can fix those body panels,
(plastic broken) and give it some new paint. selling it... well its worth more to
you than anyone else having done a swap, etc. keep it and buy another car
as needed. In two years, maybe then a Bseries swap if the car merits it. Its up
to him... but this is the kind of advice I have been offering...

good luck cory, there are alot of people that want to see you get to the
end of this challenge... myself being #1 school is most important
and I dont want to see you avoiding it for trouble with your car come next
school year...

my vote is strictly budgeted RELIABLE swap first
sell car outright, get another more reliable honda in $1500-2500 range
when able...
