Default Houston Auto-x 5th of July

Who is planning on going. Just got my alignment done, new shift light, clutch and flywheel. Now only if I could get an LSD, it would be coming close to an end. So anyone going to the July 5th event at Gulf Greyhound Park?

Hey man, sorry I missed seeing the post before the weekend. Did you end up going? I thought the event and the coarse was awsome as usual. What did you think? Are you in the Houston Area?

Anyway, either post up here or send me a IM. See ya.

Yea I did go, I had the white CRX that was in SM2. The guys in that class killed me. I really needed some better tires. The falkens are great but a course that is so fast like that I cannot pull out of the corners. However, that was one of the most challenging and fun courses that I have done. Very fast at points and slow and technical at other points. In All I loved it and wish I could go to the next one but I am leaving for KY at the end of the month. Any other events happening in Houston?

I went too...and I both liked and disliked the course at the same time. I really liked the turn 1-turn 3 segment. That last slolam kept eating my lunch however... I just couldn't get it right - the Tacoma never felt comfortable coming up on that third cone in the slolam. I know i could have gotten to 42.xxx seconds on my last run if I would have went to third gear between turns 2 and 3. I did a third gear attempt on the third run and had a better time with a horrible run (I should have been entering a drift competition ...YO!) than leaving it in second with my cleanest run. Oh well...it was FUN!

So you were THAT white CRX which was parked to the right of the turbo miata, which was parked to the right of me in grid...cool. There is an event in Bryon/college station (about 1.5-2 hours away) on the 27th of this month... http://www.dlbracing.com/default.aspx... plus you get to drive by Texas World Speedway on the way...

were you in the 91 or the 88? Do you know what tires Mike was running last weekend in the turbo miata? Just curious about his times. I did not get a chance to talk to him. Thanks.

I went. My hatch didn't like the straightaways too much. I think my best time was like a 42.0xx I had fun, but my tires couldn't handle that last salom. Everytime I got on the gas, I would end up drifting right over the last cone. I ran in the afternoon group. I don't think I would have done too well at night.

BTW, did anyone else have to buy numbers. I thought it was outrageous that they were charging 6 bucks for freaking paper sheets. I ended up buying the magnets just to get it over with.

I bought magnetic numbers since I was going to get them for the integra eventually anyways. It would have been fun if STF would have ran during the dark, I would have ran in STF then. STF will be in the dark this next go around though, so I'll be joining yall again. Say your prayers Jose - you're going down to a Tacoma in STF next night event! Actually Jose, you are probably experienced enough now to beat my time next event. If we have a less challenging slolam section than in July's event then that will help me out a lot though...heck, no slolams would be fine... LOL.

What didn't the hatch like about the straightaways? My Tacoma loved the 'straightaways'...BRRRRRAAAAAAAAaaaaaa (shift) bbbRRRRRaaAAAAAA ...

Vracer111, who was a 'NiTe RidaH' during the July 5th event...

I'm pretty sure Mike was running either the Kumho Victoracer's - I was always staged behind him when running and parked next to him in grid.

Alright....I guess we shall see. I'm as blind as a bat so maybe that would help me out at night. Hehehe. I should be running on ES100 for the next event so I guess we shall se how big a difference having sticky tires will make.

Yes, the video works fine. The camera person however needs...um...work. Better than no video though!

I need to get my runs from the camcorder to the computer - they are pretty interesting to watch, even with high mounted brakelight causing the "niteshot" feature to go bananas. But hey, then I can see where on course I'm braking and for how long...
