Different stock b16 cams?
O.K... this is kinda a lame Q because I don't have all the info but...
My buddy had a buddy who raced a delsol with a b16 in it... he had mods out the ear... but stock cams for some reason... one day he wrecked either one or both of the cams... he had to be at a race that weekend so he RUSH ordered it from a dealer he's in kinda good with... when it showed up it was different than the one it replaced... BUT had the SAME part number... the lobes where obviously different. and he said the perforamance of the new cams where WAY WAY WAY better than the ones he pulled out...
The guy he knew at honda SAID... He's run across the same thing a couple of times and best he can tell there are 3 different cams all with the same part number... when honda gets an order that's "rush" they assume it's a racer and send out the aggresive ones...
Is this b.s.???
has ANYONE done this or heard of something similar?

somewhat BS...there are no racer spec cams so to speak.
There are first gen cams and second gen cams. The 1st gens come only in the old PR3 head/block combo. The s2nd gen cams come in all USDM B16A and P30 JDM motors. There are also Automatic B16A cams that came in the 1st gen Auto B16s. They are slightly weaker profiled and make a few less ponies then the non-auto 1st gens.

sounds hard to believe...but could be true if your friend has some kinda super secret connection with H.A.R.T.

No it had nothing to do with h.a.r.t., it was just a regular dealer and he went back to ask the guy why he noticed such a difference and that's what the guy told him...
