Default Thermostat Specs

Need some info on thermostats, specifically what temps the oem, Spoon and Mugen open up at. I called the autoparts store just for the heck of it and they said theirs opened up at 170degrees.

I'm thinking my Spoon stat might be causing me problems, as mentioned in the other thread.

Thanks.

Mugen Fan switch activates @80 C and Mugen Reports 93C as Stock
Mugen Thermostat activates at 68 C (Std 76-80) and at full throttle 81c (Std. 90)

Spoon Fan switch also activates @ 80C but they report stock to be 98C
Spoon Thermostat activates at 65 (Std. 88) and at full throttle 70C

So, which is better? Mugen or Spoon thermostat?

I have the spoon thermostat. On cool days, the temperature reads 1/3 of full guage when stock was 1/2. It's interesting to see the guage moving around.

Good link. I would assume that for day to day driving, the Spoon and Mugen thermostats wouldn't be a good idea for colder climates. The track would be another situation since I would guess that it'd be easier to reach the 170 degree mark. I'm sure that some guages would let me know a lot more about what my car was doing.
