Default is there any trick ways to pass the sniffer test?

i have the jdm 4-1 header, and i dont think i'm gonna pass smog with that. is there anything i can add to my gas to "ease up" my emissions. i heard running a lil bit of methanol will really do the trick for a quik run @ the smog station. help...

Why do you think that your header will affect emissions???

You still have a cat on the car, right?

haha....yeah....your header is going to have no influence on your emissions bud. It all has to do with the shape that your cat is in and any fuel/tuning changes you have made. Bolt ons (I.E. header, intake and exaust) aren't going to really change your emissions to the point that you wouldn't pass the sniffer. Good luck. Is it a usdm engine? If you've swapped to a jdm engine, then you could have problems.

^what he said...

but just for ****'s and giggles... steel wool packed into the exhaust (usually in the hollowed out cat) will lower the numbers significantly as well as some stuff called "must pass" or something like that...

Well I do have a JDM/Euro engine and bolt ons and still have a cat and didn´t pass emissions test. I might add that in Portugal where I live emissions are not that striked as in the US and it still didn´t pass.
Any ideas on what I can do? Besides the wool thing?

I take it you are running a B16A?
Are you taking it to a smog ref or just a normal smog shop?
If you are just going to a smog shop you are not going to pass with the swapped motor.
You can get it passed at the ref, but you better make sure all the US smog equip for the motor is hooked up and all bolt-ons you have are CARB legal.
