Default forged pistons h22a1

does any1 know the difference between an h22a1 and an h22a4 block? also can you put forged pistons in anyone of these without having to sleeve the block? also are the heads interchangeable on these 2 blocks? thank you for any advice.

The H22a1 is a closed deck block and the H22a4 is open deck.

forged pistons? Not from what I know. You'll have to sleeve.

The heads are interchangeable.

Since your new to the board,i just wanted to give some good advice.Always do a search before posting a question.Youll come to find out many of your questions have been answered already. This subject of the stock h22a using forged pistons has been killed over and over on this board.I'm not trying to be an ***,just letting you know so you don't get flamed over a simple question.Welcome to the board.

thanx for the advice on both the blocks and the idea about the search. now i've been searching for like 3 hours, and maybe im just doing it wrong, but i cant find the answer. i have the h22a1, closed deck. now are the walls in that 1 the same as the walls in the h22a4? i read in 1 of the searches that in 97" is when they started the different sleeves, frm,nickasel,etc... can you please enlighten me or point me in the right way? i already have the turbo on the car and it smokes 147k. it runs good though. but im taking it apart and my mission is i dont have a cherry picker tyo pull the block to get it sleeved. so i was looking for a way around that. thanx again.
