Default Civic Radio Install Help!!

OK Now I need some help here. I have a 94 Civic DX it is missing it's factory radio
it is also missing the factory wiring harness. So I bought a new radio for it and now need some help. I have all the the speaker wires hooked up correctly but Im having power problems. The Yellow/Red wire is supposed to be the ignition switch wire and it is supposed to go to the Red wire of the new radio's harness ok i did that. Now the White/Blue wire is supposed to be the 12v power wire that goes to the battery, it connects to the yellow wire on the radio's harness. and then the ground wire goes to the black wire witch is supposed be the ground wire. Now wired this way i get nothing. But when i switch the red and yellow wires it alows me to eject the cd and that it. the face doesnt light up, i cant turn it on... all i can do is insert and eject the cd. and you can only do that by pressing the radio's reset button or the eject button when the face is on and you have power it doesnt come out unless there is power. Do i have the 12v power wires screwed up? if some one could post something on what wires go to what with a nice pic i think it would be a big help... thanks in advance for any replys

Thanks and I have used that... It is hard to explain my problem but I have it wired so that the 12v power wire is attached to the 12v ignition wire of the radio and the 12v ignition wire is connected to the 12v power wire of the radio. With it wired like this it alows me to insert a cd and eject it. that's it. thats all it will let me do and i have hit the radio's reset many times. If i wire it in reverse of whats stated above (12v power to 12v power and 12v ignition to 12v ignition) i get absolutly no power at all

i ghetto rigged mine ........i took the power wire from the radio and connected it straight to a 7.5 fuse, in the fuse box directly above your left foot if u were sitting in the driver seat. if the power wire doesnt reach then juss get another wire and connect it with a lil electric tape ........juss take the wire and wrap it around the fuse and connect it back in the fuse box.....i forget what fuse i used but i think it mite be the (radio/clock) fuse. check the labels on the fuse box cover. sorry but i have no pics, but i know for sure it works , gime an im if u need more help

That sounds to me like one of the wires isnt working. Do you have a test light or a voltmeter?
I've installed many stereos into cars and have run into a problem like that in a past. But, for the life of me, I cant remember which wire caused it.
Or what you can do to test it is to put both ignition and constant wires from the stereo end onto 1 of the power wires from the dash.

I totally agree, try finding another source of power for the ignition wire that only comes on when accessories is on or when the car is turned on ie. Cigarette lighter

Your problem is the red power wire from the radio isn't getting power, only the yellow one. The yellow one needs to be constant, the red one is ignition switched.
