Hi everyone,

I've got a 2000 civic coupe with d16y8 with minor bolt ons and all of sudden I've noticed a rough idle when the a/c is turned on. I've done a new gas filter at 25k, plugs at 30k and it has 33k currently. Please let me know if this is something that sounds familiar! Thanks in Advance.

 

I have a 99 coupe and it does have a little shaky idle as well when the a/c is on. I think it is normal, my exhaust sounds different too when it's on.

I never use it though b/c I love having the windows down.

 

there's more of a load on the engine.

 

If the idle is really off, like the car's about the shut off, check the battery.

 

Could also be the compressor/clutch. It really depends on how shakey the car is getting. A little bit is normal, but a very very low idle is not. Give us some more details....

 

My car does the same thing also. But my A/C isnt on. But I really need a tune-up,

so maybe thats the problem.

well the car should be working harder...but if it starts to get REALLY rough, to the point where the engine stops. then you have a problem.

 

the engine is under more load when its on, check the alternator if it sounds like its going to die
