All those guys waiting for the R1...
I dont know which R1 you are waiting for but Id wait for the new R1x which is the codename for the redesigned R1. Word from my Yammy rep is that it sick. But then again word from Honda rep says the new Fireblade 1K or CBR1000 will be just as sick. Such a tough desicion. Both are said to destroy this years top seller, the Gixxer 1.
I also got word that honda is seriously thinking about making an RR spec 600 with more ponies and better suspension. i already talked to my boss and have first pick of any color i want if it comes out in different schemes. The 600 class is about to get an *** kicking.... Honda Style

I don't know that the new Honda will "destroy" anything as the difference between the best and second best these days is very very little. To improve the performence of your bike, spend your money on race schools not "the latest and greatest".
I did see one of those new GSX-R 1000 up at Louden, I didn't get a good look though, I was passing him down the hill in turn 9. I was riding a 1987 honda hurricane 600 rat race bike.

Top Teir. AMA and FIM. Club racing, i think it will hold a distinct advantage since it was lapping Willow Springs at a full second faster than the Gixxer1, but club racing is alot of times weekend warriors who arent ready or willing to push 110%. So Id say AMA more

B-Diddy, I see that you're from Redding CT. Do you do any Club racing? I'm from Westchester and I'm thinking about getting into it. I did my fare share of four-wheel Club racing with my old GTI (my also Dad ran a stock up at the Danbury Fair Grounds and out at Orange County for a number of years). I was also into Karting in a very big way. Racing must just be in my blood. I've only recently started thinking about racing a bike (i.e. on and off on the weekends). I would assume the best way to start is to get yourself a beater (I'm not into dumping my RR).
i do a couple track days here and there, not a big fan of motorcycle racing(myself doing it) since I got run over once when the guy could have easily gone around me. His excuse was I would have messed up his line. i punched him out with my good arm. Take a superbike school. They help build confidence the same way a driving school does. And its cheaper than dumping your bike. If you want to really get into it and have some bucks to spend. Get an Aprilia RS250 and do the challange. All RS250s which you can buy at an Aprilia dealer and they are setup for track use. I have sold about 6 of the things. Awsome way to get started if you have the cash. Other wise, yea its all about a beater.

Thanks for the info. Do they ever run bike up at Lime Rock? I've run my old GTI up at the Rock a number of times and like that track. I wonder what it's like on two wheels?
Last year Lime Rock was open wed. for testing. You could ride with a valid racing lic. Don't know about this year. No bike racing at Lime Rock.
