stomping on clutch? noise from clutch/flywheel area

when i step on the clutch i hear a weird noise from the clutch/flywheel. its a non-grinding noise but it sounds like some kinda non grinding whirling noise. sorry its hard to describe the sound. i cant figure what seems to be the problem?
