pls help, swap confusion

Default pls help, swap confusion

i have a 90 civic Si hatchback that didnt run and i just put a d15b in with the 1.6 head and everything seems to be working, i have fuel, spark and compression, but it just wont catch. it just cranks over and every now and again makes an almost popping sound from the exhaust. pls? and suggestions. thanks.

make sure you have all the ground points hooked up i.e: valve cover , tranny to frame, engine harness on the back water spout.

Check your timing did you make sure you lined everything up right when you put the new head on? I am not positive on this but I dont think that the A6 head on the D15 block has the same timing marks?? I think how they are timed are a little different?

the distrubutor is from the motor that was in the car when i got it that didnt run. it was a sohc zc motor. the motor i just put in was claimed to be running and i think it does, there is just something a little off

i am pretty sure all of those ground are there and the firing order is right. how do i check the timing and dial in the distributor angle? i feel its just a very small thing that i overlooked because all of the major things are done
