Default Hit a bump very hard and the car shut off.

Please check this thread for the full details.

To summarize: I sprayed the engine down with water to clean off spilled coolant, then took it for a ride, and hit a large bump at a high rate of speed. Hit the bump very hard. The car shut right off when I hit the bump and now won't start. Nothing happens when I turn the key, radio won't come on, no lights on the dash, nothing. Tried disconnecting the battery and jumping the car. Battery has a spark. The beeping to remind you to not lock your keys in the car DOES come on when the key is in the igntion.

Help or suggestions? Anyone had this happen to them before?

Hey, that's a great Radiohead song

The parking lights, headlights, dome light DO come on. But when I turn the key the "idiot lights" do not come on at all. They normally come on for 10 seconds when I start the car and then turn off.

My Sony Xplod CD player does NOT come on, though it will eject/accept CD's.

The interior climate fans do not come on. The engine cooling fan does not come on.

When I turn the key nothing happens. No clicking no nothing.

The engine was wet when I hit that bump, could I have shorted something out? Fuse maybe? If so which fuses should I check?

I gave my car a large jolt one time and the engine shut off. I waited a minute and it started right up agian. I didnt have a problem becasue of that ever again.

that being said

1. Check all your fuses under the dash and under the hood

2. Make sure you dont have water inside the distributor cap (this happened to a friend of mine who liked to drive through big puddles)

3. Let you car sit hood open in the sun to dry up any left over water

Maybe water got somewhere it shouldnt be. You should cover up all wiring, alternator, distributor, and intake when spraying under you hood. Just so you know!

Good luck I hope any of this helped!

Well, for the record, I only sprayed water on the radiator and behind the intake where my lower hose was leaking coolant.

I'll check the fuses tomorrow, provided it doesn't get towed/stolen in the meantime...

Definatley check the fuses under the dash and under the hood, battery could have came in contact with the hood and blew your main engine fuse.

It's been a tough couple weeks. This is my daily driver as well as my baby. Lots of money invested so far...
Yes, it was the main fuse. I switched the lighting fuse over to the main engine fuse and TADA!!, it started right up. Of course, as my luck would have it, driving home at 10:00pm with no lights whatsoever and using a flashlight to see (no street lights), I wound up grounding out on someones granite walkway...

Not that I'm complaining, the problem is solved and tomorrow I buy a new fuse and a fastener for the battery and I'm done.

I guess the the battery bounced up and hit the hood, shorting out one of the fuses
