high rpm tranny noise
i have a 91 hatch with a zc motor and si tranny. i recently replaced my tranny and have discovered that when i hit high rpms (around 6 grand) i start to hear a grinding noise which gets louder until i shift at 7g. my old transmission started doing this also a couple of months before it completely went out and had to be replaced and i have no idea what it could be. im not 100% sure its coming from the tranny but thats what it sounds like...if anyone has any info it would be a great help.
thanks

could be an internal problem. You said this happened with your old tranny. Did it stop when you replaced it? if not then i would check the block...I had a similar probmem and at first i was thinking axels, then tranny and by the time i figured out i bloke of an internal piece in the motor and it was just bouncing aroudn the block, i shot a hole through it when i threw a rod...good luck...
hmm well i know its not fluid cuz i checked that but it could be the bearing i guess... the sound comes from the shifter so im pretty sure its something to do with the tranny..also it seems to get louder as the rpms go up...anyways, thanks for the feedback
