Default 1989 Accord To fix or not to fix

Hi, I just aquired a 1989 Accord LX. The head gasket was blown, and the machanic told my friend that the engine was fried. What are the signs of an unrepairable engine. Its been quite some time, but I have replaced a head gasket. An engine swap isn't out of the question, but I really don't want to do it. Looking for a quick fix.

Try to crank it over by hand. If it cranks, do a compression test and see what the results are like before deciding on any more work.

i would go to a pick a part and find a good engine pull it and install it in your car .... i found one and pulled it last month for my 89 accord and i paid 107.00 for it ... after all the parts like timing belt and stuff i paid 250 and i had the car running .... i just hate all the caccum hoses in the carb model .... took 2 days to diagnoss the vaccum hose problem and turned out someone blocked one of the hoses with a ball bearring
