jdm h22 and smog checks
wut do u guys do when it comes time to get ur car smogged and u have a jdm engine in it??? i dont know much about engine swapping laws here in cali so i'm tryin to figure out how hard its gonna be to have a jdm h22 vs. a usdm h22
my guess is to make sure all your emissions equipment is hooked up properly. Keep it stock when you take it to the smog referree. and do an oil change and sparkplug change etc before hand.

I made sure I had all of the emissions equip on my car. When I got to the Ref. I brought the Honda manual for the year of my H22 (93) and the manual for the year of my accord (90). This is so they will have a better reference then there Chilton book. Also if you have any aftermarket bolt-ons make sure they have the carb sticker on it. DC header or AEM CAI have them. Also do a minor tune up before you go (spark plug, oil change.) and drive slow over there so that your CAT can stay hot.
I don't know how it is in CA, but in NYC we pay the mechanic an extra 40 bucks to pass the state inspection. See if you can do the same, because as far as I know, it is difficult to pass the state inspection with a JDM H22.
40 bucks? not bad at all. my cousin has an aftermarket engine and a shitload of bolt-ons and a supercharger, and he payed 250 just to get his '89 stang passed. haha, $40 vs $250...now id be pissed
its not the test itself i was curious about, it was actually getting them to test the car with the engine in it or testing with a different car...passing isnt usually the problem, its the visual that you have to get around....
