Default Newbie Tire Question

Ok so on a EG (b18c1 engine) civic with TOKICO illuminas and Nuespeed Sports from and Integra (dc2), EBC fromt Pads, and blank discs....driver has some racing expereince and has just started AUTO X in SOLO 2.... Right now i'm using my street tires and they are "ok"...i have a set of Khumos ESTAS 712's with a 40 wall in 16"....i run them 34F and 38R with the valves in the socks say 80% rear, 70%F...i like to trail brake a bit....

What tires would you say would work best for this car on a economy budget and what rim size.... i would be using a set of stock rims in either 13, 14, or 15..i was thinking 14's in some Victoria Racers.. i'm not prepared to make an investment on a set of tires with 50 tread wear... no this year anyway....

Would a tire like Yokohoma A520's do me any good there with a street wear rating, in 14's that would be a 60series wall, and some how i think that would have massive slip angle....i'm such a noobie

falken azenis. Best street tire for the money, will last a season of autocross and street driving. They're about $68/tire, 205/50/15.

you wont find anything that grips better for the price

I got 7 track weekends and 8,000 street miles on mine, still had wear left when i sold them last year.

Falken Azenis. Perfect tire for the price - especially if you're still learning. Going from Yokohama AVID H4 all-season tires to Azenis dropped approximately 3 seconds off my autocross times.

I second that motion. The avs es100 is nowhere near the level of performance/price as the Azenis. Not even close. The Azenis has the dry grip of an S03 (I have run both on track and autox) at the price of a rubber band. The avs es100 might be a good all around street tire, if your'e looking for extended mileage, but it aint gonna hang with the Azenis in the corners.

Go to Discount Tire and get the Azenis's, do not pass go, do not collect $200. I had heard everyone talk about them, but I was still somewhat leary. Then I checked the price and realized that they were cheaper than most name brand touring tires.

The improvement in grip from a set of proxies was unreal. I went from being competitive in regional SM2, to dominating it. This past weekend I won by 2.5 seconds.
