i'm thinking of running the skunk2 stage 1 SOHC cam mainly due to its possible 50-state legality. i've heard great things about the 59300 from zex but my car is a daily driver that needs to pass smog. i could find a guy but you know. . . .

Never heard anything bad about the Zex camshaft. I have seen and heard more than one complaint about the Crower camshafts breaking in half. My friend had a fully built GSR blown to kingdom come b/c of the Crower. The whole cam broke in half. His car wasn't even daily driven at that time. He wasn't even racing when it happened. He was so sad b/c all his money went into that motor and it took him over 2 yrs to build another one. Now I advise and stay away from Crower.

will this zex cam fit the y8? Is it better for n/a setups or forced induction?

It will fit. The timing will be off a couple of degrees, I believe, though. But that will get cared for when you hop on the dyno, anyway. I'm interested in seeing dyno comparisons of the 59300 versus the Skunk2 Stage I.

the difference is in the way the cam is setup for the cam gear, there is about 5 degrees difference between the motors. they are interchangable.

d16y8 and d15b sohc vtec vti running a Z6 type cam will be about 5 degrees retarded.
